Patrick Ryan, O.D.

Dr. Patrick Ryan is an Illinois native and earned his B.S in biology from Southern Ill. University. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston where he was a Beta Sigma Kappa honor student. His first position was with Warren Cross, M.D. in Houston, a complete eye care facility with in-house refractive and cataract surgery.While there Dr. Ryan enjoyed the opportunity to work with some of the leading refractive surgeons in the country.

In 1986, Dr. Ryan and his wife left Texas for Richmond, Virginia to raise their family. He decided to open Ryan Vision Center so that he could offer friendly, personal care. He opened a second location, Drs. Rainer and Ryan, located near Virginia Center Commons Mall in 2000 with Dr. Bob Rainer.

He has extensive experience in managing pre- and post-operative refractive surgery patients, as well as determining candidacy and setting realistic expectations of patients desiring refractive eye surgery. Dr. Ryan genuinely enjoys seeing his patients experience the benefits of improved vision. He is very interested in the medical and optical problem solving nature of the profession.

His other passions include swimming, biking and running, so he is very familiar with sports vision needs! He has twin adult children and two dogs. He enjoys travelling.

David Beck

David is a VA State Licensed Optician with 35 years experience. David owned his own independent optician office for many years. David has been with Dr Ryan for over ten years.

An "old-school" optician David works in our in-house optical laboratory.

Donna Gerndt

Donna, our Office Assistant, is a graduate of James Madison University and will be glad to help with your insurance questions, contact lens questions and any other assistance you might require at our office.

Donna has been with Dr Ryan for over six years.

Susan LaBaugh

Susan, a graduate of the College of William and Mary, is our efficient Office Manager. She is experienced with our vision plans and can assist you with your questions on coverage. Susan can order your contacts and help you with rebates.

Susan has been with Dr Ryan for over nine years.

Rochelle Robinson

Rochelle has been a licensed Optician for over 15 years. She has been with Ryan Vision for twelve years.

Rochelle enjoys helping patients choose frames that compliment their facial features. Recently, she recently added a line of frames designed specifically for children with Down's Syndrome. She always looks forward to combining her past experience in child development (BS VA Tech) with her opticianry knowledge to give excellent service to our youngest patients!

John Seegers

John has been a optician for over seventeen years and he has been with Ryan Vision for seven years.

John has a MEd. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. John has taught opticianry for J Seargeant Reynolds Community College, is a frequent contributor to optical trade magazines and owns the website www.OpticianWorks.com.
